Originating from the eastern Pacific, from the state of Sonora, Mexico, to northern Peru, it is the largest species of farmed shrimp. The main commercial producers of this crustacean are Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil. Vannamei shrimp contain minerals called selenium and is an important component of antioxidant properties that help combat the effect of free radicals.
