Mullet occurs only in the South and Southeast and is strongly linked to the culture of fishing ranches and artisanal fishing in general. They are coastal species that form schools, and are found in great abundance in estuarine lagoons, where they spend a large part of their life cycle, later migrating to the sea. Fish like mullet also contain vitamin D, which is stored in the animal's fat. This vitamin is beneficial to our bodies, as it can help prevent heart problems, diabetes and cancer.
